32′ Walsted
Built in Denmark in 1961 by Walsted, this beautifully detailed auxiliary centerboard sloop is 32’ overall and is mahogany planked, bronze screw fastened featuring swept teak decks.
She is powered by a 27 HP Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel series 3GM30. The motor was installed new in 2002 and has been run approx 100 hours. Dimensions are as follows: LWL 25.5’ Draft Board Up 4’4” Beam 8.5” Displacement approx. 11000 lbs. Mainsail 276 sq. ft. Fores’l 186 sq ft.
The mainmast, boom, and spinnaker pole are varnished spruce; the mast is keel stepped with a single set of spreader and spreader lights. The standing rigging, turnbuckles, and toggles are stainless steel; the halyards are new and are wire to braid spliced. The sails are in new condition and consist of a main, 100% jib, and 150% jib; also included is a nylon spinnaker and a heavy storm jib. The boom has an adjustable traveler. The primary winches are #40 Lewmar aluminum self-tailers. The boat is tiller steered. The water tank is approx 40 gals. and the fuel is appox 25 gals. She carries a pair of 12V batteries; these are charged by either the 40 amp alternator off the engine or a Constavolt from shore power. The boat is equipped with a bow and stern rail, stainless stanchions and single wire lifelines with gates port and starboard.
There is a battery switch, breaker panel, 110V outlets, Racor fuel water separator, engine panel with key start, tach and alarms, morse controls for throttle and shifter, automatic bilge pump and float switch, 12V brass lights with shades throughout. She carries a Danforth anchor on deck and a CQR anchor stowed below, each with respective chain/rope rodes.
The layout below begins all the way forward with twin berths P&S with stowage below and shelving above. Next aft to port is the enclosed head with new manual toilet installation. There is also a porcelain sink with manual freshwater pump with stowage lockers outboard and under the sink. Opposite the head is an enclosed hanging locker of ample size. Next aft is the salon with berths port and starboard and a drop leaf teak table on centerline. Shelves and enclosed lockers are outboard. There is quarter berth to starboard with enclosed storage outboard and below; the galley area has an icebox and enclosed storage lockers opposite to port.
Access to the front of the engine is via a removable thwartship panel; and access to the top of the engine is via a drop in countertop panel. The painted surfaces are off white and the trim is varnished mahogany. The bunk cushions are in new condition. There are 4 opening bronze portlights, a forward opening hatch of clear acrylic, and two chrome vents in dorade boxes allowing for plenty of light and airiness below. The cabin sole is varnished teak planks.
Construction is to the highest standard. It is of traditional carvel mahogany planking and oak frame and backbone with bronze floors throughout. The centerboard casement is of bronze. All fastenings, bolts, drifts, and lags are of the finest quality bronze. The decks are laid teak, bronze fastened and bunged. Coamings, house, covering boards, king plank, rails, and trim are of stained mahogany.
Northern Light has undergone constant upgrades and is currently offered in impeccable condition. She is a true pedigree from the renowned Walsted yard in Denmark. She is of exquisite build and sails and performs flawlessly. She is sure to be admired in any port.
