Michael Terry Resume – Classic Yacht Restorations

Classic Yacht Restorations, Boat Repair and Painting in Stonington, CT

As owner and operator, I am confident that my over 40 years of experience in the marine trades will be of great benefit to your next boat project. I apprenticed in Tacoma, WA in the early 1970′s under the tutelage of Joe Trumbly, the renowned boatbuilding instructor at LH Bates Voc Tec Institute. I returned home to Connecticut in 1974 and took employment as a carpenter and rigger at Essex Boat Works for 10 years. Major credits include: lofting and constructing the 24′ Benford designed Friendship sloop “Prelude”; 1975-1979 ownership and maintenance of “Halcyon”, the 45′ Stadel wooden gaff rigged schooner built 1965; 1979-1996 ownership and maintenance of “Tomahawk”, the 48′ S&S yawl built in 1938.

Following my years in Essex, I went on to manage businesses which included yacht sales, marine parts distribution, inventory control, and warehousing. I founded Classic Yacht Restorations in 2001 to fill a void in low cost service yacht service for Connecticut and Rhode Island.
